Zegates is a working studio, not an agency and not a big consultancy. Twelve or so of us in Colombo, plus collaborators across two continents. What that means for you day to day: your work ships to real users the week you finish it, code reviews happen with people whose names are on the commits, and the context you need to make good decisions is one message away.
The projects are real too. Private-equity CRM, POS platforms that run offline, real-estate tools, AI voice agents for logistics. Nothing here is a sandbox. That is the point. The only way to learn what production actually asks of you is to write software that runs in it.
We work in short cycles, release documentation with every deployment, and stay with software long after it goes live. If you like the idea of shipping every eight days and hearing back from real users the next morning, this is the place.

You ship it, you own it
The person who writes the code stays with it through review, release, and the first week in production. Ownership is not a handoff; it is a habit. That is how you build the judgement senior engineers actually have.
Craft, on a real deadline
We work in short cycles against real client releases, not internal sprints that quietly slip. That pressure is a good teacher. You learn what "good enough to ship" and "still worth polishing" actually feel like, and you learn it fast.
Say the awkward thing
If a spec is wrong, a deadline is unrealistic, or a client is asking for the wrong thing, we say so early. That goes for teammates too. Direct feedback is faster than the polite version, and it is the reason the same people work together for years.
Learn out loud
New tools, new patterns, new client domains. Everyone here is one of the more junior people in some corner of the work. Ask, share what you tried, write it down. Nobody grows quietly on this team.
